Organic Chicken Quinoa Paella Recipe: Simple and Delicious Recipe for the Whole Family!

How to Make Machika Organic Quinoa Paella
Here at Machika, we have been debating whether you can make paella without rice at all! This may seem impossible, after all the dish is heavily based on the use of specifics types of rice. However, rice is not the only type of grain you can use! Quinoa has many nutritional advantages over regular short grain white rice and can even be used to make paella! With that in mind, here is our Machika Organic Chicken Quinoa Paella!
Cooking paella is simple, and with quinoa, the process remains just as easy. All you need is an open fire pit, outdoor burner, or large enough kitchen burner. Depending on how much paella you are making, you can divide this recipe. For example, if you are trying to make a 2 serving personal paella, then cut this recipe by half to 2/3rds to get the right amount. For this recipe, you will need:
- · Large enough burner or open fire
- · Non-scratch cooking spoon or spatula
- · Measuring cup
- · Authentic Machika enameled paella pan
- · Chef’s knife
- · Spoon for tasting
2 lbs of organic chicken breast
1 ½ cups of quinoa
4 tbsp of Basso 1904 organic extra virgin olive oil
2 bell peppers (preferably red or yellow)
4 cloves of minced garlic
2 tbsp of organic smoked paprika
A couple strands of authentic saffron
2 ½ cups of chicken broth
1 cup of water
Salt and black pepper
1 cup of organic green peas (frozen or fresh)
First, prepare your ingredients by cubing your chicken breast and dicing your bell peppers and onions.
Heat up your paella pan with 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil to medium high heat. Add your chicken, lightly salt, and brown but do not cook all the way through.
When ready, add your diced vegetables (green pepper and onions), garlic, 2 tbsp on olive oil and paprika and sauté until the flavors all mix and the onions start to become translucent.
Then, add your quinoa, saffron, and chicken broth alongside the juice from 1 lemon. Add some zest if you want a stronger lemon aroma and flavor.
Add your peas a couple minutes after the pan begins to boil and lower the heat to a simmer.
Add salt and pepper to taste. Do not oversalt, you can always sprinkle some salt on top when down if more is needed.
Mix occasionally. If the pan dries too quickly, add some water from your cup of water. You do not need to add the entire cup of water.
After about 15 to 20 minutes, the liquid should have been absorbed by the quinoa and the dish should be ready to serve!
